I ran across this cool site for classic Sci Fi movies and TV shows.

http://www.allsci-fi.us/

A nice site (PHP style) with lots of cool pics and stuff, HOWEVER, Surface isn't listed.

I'll be signing up and addressing that situation soon.

Meanwhile, if you want some great Forbidden Planet, or The Day The Earth Stood Still stills, that would be your place to visit.

This reminds me of:

http://allscifi.com/

I don't see Surface there either .. hmm.. I'm sure it was there, I checked back then. Allscifi was created by Steve Gordon, whom I've met in person once. Steve also created allexperts.com, wich was genial at the time, and the best of its kind cca. 10 years ago. It was the first intelligent expert site, I used to be on the horses board. Steve sold Allexperts to About.com, site went down in quality. Now owned by NYT.

It's a great site and the Forums are just bursting with information about Sci-Fi classics to right up to date and future news.

I rarely give my recommendation for a site that people should visit but if you're a Sci-Fi fan, this is the place you will want to frequent.

It will be an honor to have an authentic Klingon here. Ah....someone who knows my language. LOLOL

Thanks for the kind words about All Sci-Fi!

We're all very excited by the prospect of being part of your wonderful board. There's a whole lot going on here at Surface Chat -- and quite a lot to see at the awesome site you've created under the banner of SaveSurface (a truly beautiful site with breathtaking computer graphics.)

At All Sci-Fi we're not a bit reluctant to encourage our members to join other sites like SaveSurface. We know that the folks from All Sci-Fi who join your board will gain new friends and learn new information about the genre we all love. And when that happens, everybody is a winner!

Thanks for creating this great site. We're looking forward to exploring it from one end to the other.

Bud

____ ATTENTION   ATTENTION :!: :!: ______Image
The quixotic science fiction Board known as All Sci-Fi has unveiled its new Forum - the preponderantly-named Area of Forever... details are sketchy and, at the moment, the Forum is for members only, but the site administrators have released the following statement:
Yes, it's New - The AREA of FOREVER is now open for All Sci-Fi members! There-in you may absorb all the fascinating and arcane knowledge in the Area of Science Fiction. This Board is called All Sci-Fi... therefore, it stands to reason that it contains a 'center' of ALL Science Fiction Knowledge - an Omniverse of Sci-Fi Splendor! Sound pretentious? Preposterous? See for yourself -

Jstn has been urging me to investigate ways to allow Google searches to display All Sci-Fi. I may have found a way that will work. Google offers a feature which allows URLs to be submitted for inclusion. Here's the Google link to that feature.

http://www.google.com/addurl/

I submitted All Sci-Fi's URL, name, and a few key words such as science fiction. Hopefully that will work.

I really hope that works out for you. You have an excellent board, and it deserves to show up during Google searches. Can I also suggest that you check into the next "tier" of service form your hosting service?

Nimrod68 (who owns this board) went up a level and we were able to get rid of the ads, which makes for a much more pleasant visit here, IMHO.

He told me it didn't cost much more to do that, although I don't have specific amounts, and it wouldn't be the same price most likely anyway.

One last thing. I would also seriously consider upgrading the software, as the new version is vastly superior in so many ways and features. You might do some reading first to find out if there is a way of preventing the search issue we ran into, when we switched. That's really the only drawback other than the new version is more complicated to learn.

I still consider it a worthwhile change overall. We can go through some details by PM, if you'd like.

Anyway, those are my unsolicted opinions. You are, of course, free to completely ignore them or implement them, as you see fit. - Jstn

Randy has set up a new link for ASF, so that hopefully the googlebots will find them now.

I updated the link on this thread (first post), but be sure to replace the old one with the new one on your personal browsers.

Let's hear it for Randy, eh?

Actually, Randy is in a province of Canada called Ohio. That's a province south of the one called North Dakota, but north of the one called Alabama.

Just FYI: I happen to live in one of the extreme eastern provinces of southern Canada called North Carolina. We're just a bit north of the Canadian province called South Carolina -- the one where the governor likes to go South America and "hick the Appalachian Trail" (as they say), which starts in North Georgia, I think.

I hope that cleared things up a bit. :D

Actually, I live about 50 miles south of the north coast of the United States. It's less than an hour's drive to reach the pure white sandy beaches all along the north coast.
