Love the disclaimer for the pics. LOLOL

Leia kissing Kirk - that's just wrong! LOLOL

Isn't she supposed to be saying, "I'd rather kiss a Wookie."

Needed that disclaimer or NimR would fire me. ROFLMAO

Can't wait until he and Puma get a look at this thread.

Hey, please cut this aging Trekker a little slack, okay?

I was a Star Wars fan from the year A New Hope was first released. My wife and I flew from Atlanta to New York to see it because we went crazy waiting for Atlanta to finally show the movie that everybody in America (including Johnny Carson) was talking about.

But I must confess, the Star Wars movies released in more recent years haven't measured up to the grandeur of the original three films.

On the other hand, the various TV series which followed Star Trek (TOS) have built on the greatness of the original. Admittedly many of the Trek movies have been a disappointment, but I'm a fan of all the TV series (in varying degrees).

My personal favorite is Voyager.

Hi Bud. Good to see you here and posting.

I believe we have an old thread here about which ST is the best. I'll see if I can hook you up with a link.

Can't tell you how good I feel about the joining of our two boards. Wish I found you guys earlier.

Hey Jstn...

I'm aware of that thread on STARGATE SG-1 you began...

I haven't added to it because I've only watched about a third of the Stargate episodes which exist and even those I don't remember well. Stargate was not a bad show in my estimation, just one that kind of slipped by me throughout the years. I wasn't a big fan of the original Stargate film (1994) and I guess the stigma of the film rubbed off on me or something in regards to the TV series. I watched more of that later spin-off, STARGATE ATLANTIS. Anyway, just FYI - didn't want you to think I purposely avoided that thread of yours.
:)

I wasn't worried about it, Bog, although, it's always a pleasure to see your responses to my posts as well as reading your threads.

Now, I was a huge fan of the movie, although I didn't like the military-in-space concept much, nor the choice of Kurt Russell as a lead actor. RDA was an excellent choice in the series though, with his irreverant attitude and smart-ass comments (all the while kicking ass at his job) and the superb choice of Michael Shanks, who even resembles James Spader.

The series stayed very true to the film, which was another wonderful move, often ignored when they turn films into TV shows.

Atlantis on the other hand, never worked for me. I watched it because the more Stargate the better, but it's like comparing the excellent ST:THG to that crappy space soap opera Deep Shit 9. OK, not quite that bad, but you get the idea.

Mostly what I didn't like about Atlantis was the casting. Joe Flannigan is good is his role, and I liked the doctor (who's name escapes me) The McKay character is Atlantis's answer to the obnoxious virtual doctor in Voyager. Where do they find these guys? LOLOL He's OK, I guess, but they could have taken the rest of the cast and dumped them for all I cared about any of them. The city looked like a set. The wraith were interesting for an episode or two, but that's it. The other "bad guys" were really boring and rehashes from various societies in SG-1. (unlike SG-1, which constantly provided an interesting sets of friends and foes) Alright, I admit I like the "jumpers" Cool little ships. So cool, they used one as a time travel device in SG-1. LOLOLOL

I understand there will be another series before long. Let's hope they get it right, and don't try to do an SG-1/ Gossip Girl combo. (shudders)

Oh that's right, this is a ST/SW thread. Whoops sorry for all the off topic comments.

Commander Ricker?
Obviously this video was not made by a Star Trek fan.

Nice effects and integration though, patching it all together.

That second one was funny (for the when you know you're dead moments).
1. You shot down an enemy fighter and the big ship following it comes to say hello.
2. You followed a ship to it's home base and there was a fleet waiting for you to show up.

Personally, I've always favored Star Trek over Star Wars.

Star Wars is kinda wearing thin my patience now.
I was okay with it when it was just these 3 movies, but now it seems to be overhyped.
I also never really understood it when I was following it, it basically reads to me like someone took swords and sorcery, then added spaceships etc.

Firefly, well, that suffered from Dark Angel cancellation fury with me, so never watched it as a protest.

I used to like Avatar, but then they overhyped it and now I don't.

Lost didn't even register on my radar.

Wonder if we can expand that list to include Stargaters and Surfacers?

I wonder, are we just slightly less lame for being a hardcore fan of a show that only had 15 episodes?

Stargate

Moniker - Gaters?

They like their Sci Fi - Without shaken spacecraft

Proudest Moment - Longest running space show ever and sequels too

Lamest Moment - ...and sequels too, esp SGU

When Fandom Goes Too Far - Building a large ring around your front door frame

If you marry one expect - To hear you cell phone referred to as a dial home device, your car as a jumper, and expect to check in at least once every 24 hours

How to piss one off - Say the show has improved with each new spin-off.

Sex Role Playing will involve - Telling your wife she "needs to open her iris" so you can enter her "wormhole".

Surface

Moniker - Surfacers, Nimites, who knows, who cares, we are too cool for that stuff

They like their Sci Fi - Complex and wet, and with cute alien lizards with attitute.

Proudest Moment - A higher score on the TV poll after only a few months, than 1560 other shows, which had been voting since 2001

Lamest Moment - Being referred to as fans of "that fish show" by the network programmer who cancelled it.

When Fandom Goes Too Far - Still collecting containers of salt for that "next big campaign"

If you marry one expect - To hear endless soapbox rants about what a crappy network NBC is

How to piss one off - Say Kevin Reilly is really good as his job.

Sex Role Playing will involve - Doing it in small leaky submersible's while small lizards nibble at your toes
